TIM will have more than 130 plants in operation by the end of the year

Consumption from renewable DG projects will represent almost 60% of the operator's energy matrix

O project G.D. (distributed generation) from the TIM, created in 2017 and which promotes the supply of the network with the use of renewable energy plants leased from partners, will account for 59% of the operator's total consumption telephone until the end of the year.

I.e, almost 60% of the energy used by the company will come from clean sources, such as solar, hydro, biogas, generated from 132 plants in 25 Brazilian states. The information was released by the company in a statement sent to the press.

In December 2023, the telephone company had reached the mark of 100 DG projects.

According to Bruno Gentil, VP of corporate resources at TIM, the The strategy of investing in its own energy generation is great for the brand’s ambitions, which aims to reduce its carbon emissions to zero by 2040. 

“We have important efficiency by focusing on renewable sources, while at the same time reaffirming our position of contributing to the preservation of natural resources and reducing the impact on the climate. It is essential that companies the size of TIM lead this movement, stimulating other organizations and promoting the production of clean energy in the Brazilian electricity sector, generating a virtuous circle for society as a whole,” he said. 

To the new plants planned for 2024 are, mostly from solar sources and will be in the states of Bahia, Sergipe, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Tocantins, Ceará, Maranhão, Pará, Roraima, Amazonas, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Espírito Santo and Goiás. 

With the expansion, the Production will reach 405 GWh at the end of December 2024, a growth of 23% compared to last year. 

A TIM highlights in its statement that already operates with 100% of renewable energy, complementing the production from the plants with acquisition on the Free Energy Market and purchase of renewable energy certificates.
