Trina Solar presented, during the Photovoltaic Panel Technology Conference, the new generation of ultra-high power Vertex panels, with 660 W.  The series, which received the IEC certificate from TÜV Rheinland, has started mass production and is expected to be officially launched in Latin America next month.

For Zhang Yingbin, head of Trina's Product Strategy and Marketing Department, the Vertex 660 W series, which achieves an efficiency of 21.6%, inherits several high-precision technologies from 210 mm (millimeter) panels, such as non-cutting. -Destructive and high-density interconnection.

Yingbin further explained that the module achieves a total power of up to 18,760 W per string, that is, 34% higher than that of the 500W+ panels.

Furthermore, he highlighted that such modules maximize the use of container space used for transportation, allowing for a higher 12% loading capacity and a reduction of 5% to 7% in installation costs, creating more space to reduce shipping costs. LCOE and BOS.

“This reduction will help us achieve our renewable energy objectives and accelerate the pace of the photovoltaic industry to embrace the era of grid parity”, highlighted the executive.

Other advantages

According to Trina, the Vertex 670 W panel is suitable for large-scale power plants, especially low-priced ones, as it can reduce the costs of wafers and silicon cells for the upstream supply chain, and reduce the value of trackers, foundation pillars, cables and labor for the downstream chain.

210mm panels

210 mm panels have been increasingly requested by the market, with competition for large-scale modules already representing more than 78%.  By the end of 2021, 210mm module production capacity is expected to reach 120 GW across the industry. At Trina Solar, such panels will represent 70 to 80% of all its shipments this year.
