Trina launches special solar panel for rooftop applications

The smallest size and weight panel was presented at an online event and promises an efficiency of 21.1%

The manufacturer Trina Solar launched this Wednesday (11) the Vertex S monocrystalline panel, which measures 1754×1096×30 mm and weighs 21.0 kg. The module is ideal for DG (distributed generation), with application on roofs of homes, industries and businesses.

Expected to be available in Brazil in the first quarter of 2021, the panel is capable of reaching a maximum power of 405 W and efficiency of up to 21.1%. Furthermore, it has a low temperature coefficient (-0.34%), performing well in high temperature places.

According to Guilherme Torrão Marques, Trina Solar's product manager for Latin America, the module is compatible with several inverters. “We think about resistance, reliability and easy handling. Due to the large cell size, 210 mm, we cut it into three parts to achieve better voltage and balanced current, which maintains compatibility with inverters available on the market for distributed generation”, explained Marques.

Álvaro García-Maltrás, general director for Latin America and the Caribbean region at Trina Solar, reinforced the importance of validations carried out by the manufacturer.

“Trina Solar has already invested over US$ 1.2 billion in R&D (Research and Development), to date, actively collaborating with the main research institutions around the world. All the tests are carried out in these laboratories to ensure that the configurations and materials used in the equipment are the most appropriate and safe”, concluded García.

The online event also featured the participation of executive Márcio Takata, CEO of Greener. The market expert highlighted that this launch takes place during the growing strength of DG in the country.

“Of the almost 4 GW of distributed generation, approximately ¼ is aimed at the residential segment and small businesses. So, it is a sector that will have around 180 thousand installations in the country by the end of the year, and the trend is that this number will accelerate next year”, commented Takata.
