Trina Solar launches new line of modules of up to 450Wp in Brazil

The director also commented on the change that the national market has been witnessing in relation to technologies

Manufacturer Trina Solar, a member of the group of 6 largest module companies (SMSL – Silicon Module Super League), this week announced the global launch of its new line of photovoltaic modules. With power of up to 450Wp, the products can now be purchased on the national market and are scheduled for delivery in 2020.

The TALLMAX family of modules, built with 144 high-efficiency monocrystalline half-cell cells, will have power between 430 and 450Wp. The DUOMAX TWIN family, with power from 430 to 445Wp, is built with cells half-cell bifacial monocrystalline, allowing significant power gains depending on the installed location. To understand the gains and functioning of modules with technology half-cell, access our article Half-cell photovoltaic modules. The general director for Latin America, Álvaro García-Maltrás highlighted the technology embedded in the brand's modules: “Trina Solar detected a market trend, which is the preference for higher power modules. Next year, it is very likely that Trina Solar will already have modules of the next generation, with a power of 500W”

The director also commented on the change that the national market has been witnessing in relation to technologies: “We are advancing very quickly from a technological point of view. In 2018, the most sold module was the 330W polycrystalline module in Latin America, and the 370W monocrystalline modules, more efficient but more expensive, were sold in smaller quantities. This year, there was a change with the emergence of more powerful modules in both categories. Therefore, if previously the market was made up of 95% polycrystalline modules, in 2019 this percentage of monocrystalline and polycrystalline modules equaled the same level.” The speech is aligned with the major global trends in module manufacturing, check out our article why monocrystalline production will be dominant: Monocrystalline modules will dominate the solar energy market.

Trina Solar was classified for the 4th time in a row by Bloomberg NEF as a company with 100% of bankability, earning the title of manufacturer Tier 1. The company's modules are also classified as “Top Performer” or Best Performances by the certifying company DNV GL.
