340 kWp PV plant will supply Ambev distribution centers in GO

The objective is to avoid the emission of 4,600 tons of CO₂ released into the environment every year

Ambev, a Brazilian company dedicated to the production of beverages, has just opened the first solar plant in Goiás. The plant will supply the company's four direct distribution centers located in the region.

According to Ambev, the panels installed in the shape of the Budweiser beer symbol are distributed over an area of 4 thousand m² with 340 kWp of power. The plant is expected to be able to meet the consumption of 40 thousand KWh per month in the centers of Itumbiara, Catalão, Rio Verde and Goiânia.

According to the company, the objective is to avoid the emission of 4,600 tons of CO₂ released into the environment every year. Furthermore, the goal is for the program to be extended with the installation of another 48 plants in 21 Brazilian states by the first quarter of 2021.

The project is carried out in partnership with the companies Solution, GD Solar and Gera Energia, which will be responsible for building the plants and, over the next 10 years, Ambev will invest approximately R$ 140 million. At the end of the period, the plants will belong to the beverage manufacturer.

Initially, the project covered 28 cities, now there will be 48 municipalities, 21 states where Ambev has operations and the Federal District. The change in the number of cities occurred due to the change in the size of the plants. Now, with smaller projects, the number of municipalities and the area covered will increase without losing power.

Leonardo Coelho, director of Sustainability and Supply at Ambev, highlighted the importance of the inauguration of this project. “This is another very important step towards our sustainability goal. With the fundamental help of partners, we have shown that by joining forces with our ecosystem we will increasingly be able to do business with a long-term positive impact on our environment”, concluded Coelho.
