Boost the production of electric trucks in Brazil. This is the objective of VWCO (Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus), which announced that it has entered into a partnership with Grupo Moura and the Chinese CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology) to transform the panorama of vehicle electrification in the country.
According to the automaker, these companies will be responsible for supplying lithium battery systems and their components for new cars. Produced in Belo Jardim (PE), with CATL and also national components, the products will serve the 11 and 14 ton e-Delivery models.

According to Grupo Moura, the batteries use Lithium, Iron and Phosphate (LFP) chemistry, which stands out for its longer useful life and greater energy density, in addition to its ample capacity to support deep cycles (full recharges after complete discharges). .
“With 63 years of history, Moura brought its expertise and focus on innovation to the project as part of the transformation of the vehicle market in Brazil. Once again, we are part of the epicenter of change in the automotive sector by signing this important partnership”, highlighted Fernando Castelão, director of the company's lithium division.
After production in Pernambuco, the systems go to the Volkswagen factory in Resende, where Moura is on the truck production line.
Furthermore, it must also enable the appropriate final disposal and/or recycling of batteries at the end of their useful life. “We will be responsible for the entire chain involving lithium batteries: from technical support to the project, logistics and import of components, assembly and installation in cars at the factory, followed by energizing the trucks, technical assistance and final disposal.”, Castelão pointed out.
Moura invests in several segments
Initially focused on the automotive sector, Moura expanded its operations to other segments, today producing batteries and energy storage systems for the most diverse applications, such as motorcycles, boats, forklifts, UPSs, subways, trains, telephone stations , storage systems, among others.
The company set up a business unit dedicated to commercially, industrially and operationally developing operations in the lithium battery market, with ongoing projects for electric mobility in vehicles, trucks, buses, forklifts and others, as well as telecommunications, solar and storage. power.
GDSolar signs partnership with Volkswagen
GDSolar announced that it will participate in the e-Consortium developed by VWCO. Together with partners such as Bosch, ABB and Siemens, the company will provide solutions for the adoption of solar-powered electric commercial fleets in the country, through e-Delivery.
Created in 2019, the project follows the modular consortium model, which will facilitate access to electric technology in commercial vehicles.
The system covers everything from truck assembly to recharging infrastructure and life cycle management of the fleet's batteries, including disposal. Ambev, Coca-Cola FEMSA Brasil and JBS are the first to acquire electrified models from Volkswagen.
