Electricity bills have already increased for 40 million consumer units in 2026; ANEEL It anticipates further adjustments in May.

New rate adjustments are expected to be announced in the concession areas of Equatorial Goiás, Sulgipe, Amazonas Energia, and Cemig.

A ANEEL The Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) has already approved a series of increases in electricity bills for Brazilian consumers this year. In total, 12 distributors had their tariff adjustment requests approved, impacting nearly 40 million consumer units.

This Wednesday (22), Electricity bills went up in eight concession areas.The main highlights included double-digit increases at CPFL Santa Cruz (18,89%), CPFL Paulista (12,13%), and Energisa Mato Grosso do Sul (12,1%).

Coelba (5,8%), Energisa Mato Grosso (6,86%), Neoenergia Cosern (5,4%), Enel Ceará (5,78%), and Energisa Sergipe (6,86%) also had confirmed rate adjustments. These new rates are in addition to others already approved throughout the year, such as Roraima Energia (24,13%), Enel Rio (15,6%), Light (8,6%), and CEA Equatorial (3,54%).

Despite the increases, the trend is expected to continue. According to the official calendar of ANEELNew adjustments are planned for May in the concession areas of Equatorial Goiás (May 3), Sulgipe (May 22), Amazonas Energia (May 26) and Cemig (May 28).

In addition, four concessionaires will have their rates redefined on May 29th: Cemirim, Cercos, Cerpro, and Cerrp. ANEEL It also analyzes, in parallel, tariff processes under public consultation, such as those of Copel (19,2%) and Energisa Sul-Sudeste (7,23%), which may still undergo changes.

If confirmed, the anticipated new price adjustments could impact an additional 20 million consumer units in Brazil.
