A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) approved this Tuesday (13), in a deliberative circuit of the board, the annual tariff adjustments of the distributors EDP São Paulo and CPFL Piratininga.
The new rates will take effect on October 23, with average increases of 3,16% for consumers served by EDP and 5,41% in the CPFL Piratininga concession area. For residential consumers, the adjustments will be 2,17% and 2,63%, respectively.
EDP São Paulo serves approximately 2,24 million consumer units, while CPFL Piratininga supplies energy to approximately 2,05 million.
The approved rates reflect, among other factors, the costs of purchasing and transporting electricity and sector charges, as well as specific components considered in the tariff processes of each concessionaire.
Differences
In the EDP SP area, the average effect for low-voltage consumers was 2,09%, while for those served at high voltage it reached 5,67%. The average result of 3,16% considers the different consumption classes and their respective tariff impacts.
In addition to the purchase and transportation of energy, the ANEEL He pointed to distribution costs and sector charges as factors that influenced the new prices.
Financial components determined in the current adjustment were also taken into account, which will be offset over the following 12 months.
For CPFL Piratininga, the average effect on low voltage was 2,62%. On high voltage, the index reached 11,67%, contributing to raising the overall average effect to 5,41%.
According to the regulatory agency, the acquisition and transportation of energy, as well as sector charges, influenced the approved indices.
CPFL Piratininga also had its concession extended ahead of schedule for 30 years, formalized in May 2026 through an addendum to the contract. With the extension, the concession's validity was extended until October 23, 2058.
CEEE-D may see an increase of more than 22%.
On another tariff front, the ANEEL On October 8th, in Porto Alegre (RS), a public hearing was held to discuss the proposed Periodic Tariff Review of CEEE-D (Companhia Estadual de Distribuição de Energia Elétrica).
Unlike the annual adjustments approved for EDP SP and CPFL Piratininga, the process for the Rio Grande do Sul distributor is still under discussion and foresees significantly higher rates.
The proposal establishes an average effect of 22,31%, with an average increase of 24,24% for low-voltage consumers and 15,88% for those served at high voltage.
The percentages are noteworthy because they indicate double-digit increases in the two major voltage ranges covered in the agency's table. CEEE-D serves approximately 2,03 million consumer units in Rio Grande do Sul.
According to ANEELAmong the factors putting pressure on the proposed rates are the increase in the distributor's remuneration base and the reinstatement of part of the tariff deferral carried out in 2024, measures related to the climatic effects that hit the state that year.
Costs related to sector charges, transportation, and energy acquisition are also influencing the price. The proposal was submitted to Public Consultation No. 27/2026, linked to Public Hearing No. 7/2026, to receive contributions on the tariff review, tariff structure, and technical losses.
The final index is scheduled for deliberation by the board of directors. ANEEL in the second half of November, with entry into force scheduled for November 22, 2026.
