A ANEEL The Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica) published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) the new values for energy tariffs and the limits of the PLD (Price of Settlement of Differences) for 2026, bringing adjustments that reflect operational costs and accumulated inflation during the period.
In this scenario, the changes directly affect the costs of energy generation and distribution in Brazil, with significant implications for consumers.
The TEO (Optimization Energy Tariff) was set at R$ 18,27/MWh, while the TEO for the Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant was set at R$ 57,31/MWh.
The TSA (Ancillary Services Tariff), which covers the operating costs of generating units requested by the ONS (National System Operator), was adjusted to R$ 10,41/Mvar-h.
Furthermore, ANEEL It also revised the PLD limits for the year 2026. The minimum PLD limit was set at R$ 57,31/MWh, corresponding to the value of the Itaipu TEO, while the maximum structural limit was established at R$ 785,27/MWh, and the maximum hourly limit reached R$ 1.611,04/MWh.
Changes to rates and limits are based on variations in the IPCA (Broad Consumer Price Index), with the TEO and TSA being adjusted by the accumulated index up to September 2025, which was 5,17%.
Compared to the previous year, the TEO readjustment was very close to the IPCA (Brazilian inflation index), while the Itaipu TEO suffered a reduction of 2,20% due to the increase in the amount of energy destined for Paraguayan consumption, decreasing the amount of energy supplied to Brazil.
