Electricity consumers in Minas Gerais will have to prepare for another increase in their electricity bill starting next Thursday (28). ANEEL approved last Tuesday (26) the tariff readjustment of Cemig, distributor that serves around 9,8 million consumers in the state.
The approved rates foresee a 5,21% increase for consumers connected to low voltage, a group that includes residential customers and small businesses. For consumers served at medium voltage, the adjustment will be 9,43%.
The percentages, however, will still be impacted by the anticipation of resources from the renegotiation of UBP (Use of Public Property) quotas, since the concessionaire is located in the area covered by SUDENE (Superintendence for the Development of the Northeast).
In total, R$ 73 million will be allocated for tariff moderation. With this, the average effect for low-voltage consumers should be 4,51%, below the 5,21% initially approved by the Regulatory Agency.
According to ANEELThe adjustment was mainly driven by transmission and energy purchase costs, as well as financial components related to the current and previous tariff cycles.
With the new authorization, the number of distributors that have had tariff adjustments approved rises to 16. ANEEL in 2026, affecting approximately 50 million consumer units in different regions of the country.
