The Minas Gerais Public Prosecutor's Office (MPMG) has adopted the use of solar energy with the goal of reducing public spending on electricity bills and expanding sustainability practices through the consumption of clean and renewable energy. The contract was signed with Cemig Sim, the shared solar generation arm of the Minas Gerais state-owned group.
With the solar energy subscription model, the MPMG (Minas Gerais Public Prosecutor's Office) will reduce electricity costs in the institution's buildings and, in the future, will also make the benefit available to employees and collaborators. According to the agency, the expectation is to achieve annual savings of R$ 1,2 million, in addition to preventing the emission of 200 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
The contract signing took place last Tuesday (26) and was attended by Alexandre Ramos, newly appointed president of Cemig and who also holds the position of president of the Board of Directors of CCEE (Chamber of Electric Energy Commercialization).
Cemig Sim currently serves approximately 300 public sector clients at the state and municipal levels. According to Iuri Mendonça, the company's director, the company already generates savings exceeding R$ 124 million per year for these consumers.
According to the Attorney General, Paulo de Tarso Morais Filho, the initiative represents a measure of administrative efficiency and cost rationalization. "Based on the historical consumption of MPMG units throughout the state, the estimate is for annual savings of approximately R$ 1,2 million," he stated.
