The president of IBP (Brazilian Institute of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels), Roberto Ardenghy, stated that diversifying energy sources will be strategic to guarantee energy security and economic stability in an international scenario marked by geopolitical tensions and logistical challenges.
“Oil will continue to be very important, it will continue to be relevant in the world economy (while sharing the spotlight with renewables)”, said the executive, during the LIDE Energy Seminar, on Wednesday morning (27) at CASA LIDE, in São Paulo (SP).
During the event, Ardenghy also argued that the climate agenda should advance in a way that aligns with energy security, and highlighted that the oil and gas sector has been investing in technologies aimed at reducing emissions.
He also cited the need to expand regulatory security and accelerate licensing processes for new exploratory frontiers in Brazil.
During his participation, the executive also mentioned Brazil's potential in biofuels, including ethanol, biodiesel, green diesel, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), pointing out that the availability of biomass and renewable raw materials puts the country in a competitive position in the energy transition.
The LIDE Energy Seminar also brought together representatives from Equinor and Shell, who presented investments and strategies focused on energy expansion and decarbonization in Brazil.
