Solar and wind energy production in the Northeast Submarket was once again severely affected by curtailment, repeating, albeit on a smaller scale, the situation seen last weekend.
Released by ONS (National Electric System Operator) this Wednesday, the 15th, the IPDO (Preliminary Daily Operation Report) referring to yesterday, the 14th, shows that the total cut in renewable generation reached 6.148 MW, exceeding the limit by just over 21 hours.
This amount corresponds to the period from 00:00 to 17:19 and from 19:56 to 23:59. According to the operator, the reasons given for the restriction were "frequency control, regional and systemic inequalities in normal operation, and ongoing interventions."
Frequency control was also the reason given by the ONS (National System Operator) for yesterday's 91 MW power cut in the Southeast/Central-West Submarket, between 06:57 am and 13:51 pm.
In the North Submarket, there were restrictions between 04:16 AM and 13:08 PM, also due to frequency control and "ongoing interventions," but the volume of the cut was not specified. The South Subsystem was the only one without restrictions.
Last weekend, the ONS (National System Operator) reported a more serious situation, with renewable energy curtailment reaching 18.157 MW in the Northeast, totaling 16 hours on Saturday the 11th, with 10.831 MW, and 7.326 MW on Sunday the 12th, with 9 hours and 53 minutes of limitation. The reasons given were the same as those indicated for yesterday, the 14th, with emphasis on the issue of frequency control.
