Between September 1 and 23, Brazil recorded 761 fire outbreaks, the majority in São Paulo. This figure is noteworthy because it is practically the same as the total recorded for the entire dry season of 2025 (794 outbreaks), which occurred from June 1 to August 31.
According to Climatempo, the wildfires in September were not restricted to uninhabited or remote areas. On the contrary, they spread to regions near transmission lines, generation plants, and infrastructure projects, increasing the exposure of strategic assets.
The company's monitoring and alert system also identified a 369,6% increase in fire alerts compared to the combined quarters of June, July and August.
"The increase reflects how the height of the dry season increases risks and brings fire outbreaks closer to locations that directly impact companies' operations," highlights Climatempo.
The intensification is linked to the combination of high temperatures, low humidity, and dry vegetation, typical conditions of the season. Gradual improvement is expected with spring, although irregular rainfall still poses risks.
For Climatempo, the scenario reinforces the importance of meteorological intelligence in anticipating critical events, as it helps expand alert coverage and identify outbreaks more quickly, "ensuring operational safety and business continuity," explains Ana Clara Marques, a meteorologist at the company.
Monitoring and technology
Climatempo's monitoring system uses real-time data to identify fires, storms, strong winds, hailstorms, and electrical discharges. This information is shared with companies to support quick, assertive decisions.
To increase accuracy, CT-MERGEFIRE intelligence integrates data from multiple satellites and applies filters that eliminate noise and inconsistencies, ensuring greater detection reliability and contributing to environmental prevention and the protection of corporate assets.
