The solar panel manufacturer BYD launched its new UHP (ultra-high power) solar panel at SNEC 2021. According to the company, with MBB half-cell technology, the maximum power can reach 665 W. Also according to the company, the new panels have an average cell efficiency of 22,8% and a reduction in  LCOE (levelized cost of energy) of 3,5%, reducing the system cost by 5,7%.

During the launch, BYD highlighted that the new 665 W modules are suitable for large power plants and can be widely used in BIPV (integrated photovoltaic system), in vertical installation and in environments with high humidity, wind and dust.

“This launch shows how committed BYD is to increasing its participation in the solar energy segment around the world. The company, which is already a leader in providing solutions for a more sustainable world, invests its capital to make this emission-free ecosystem increasingly efficient”, highlights Adalberto Maluf, director of marketing and sustainability at BYD.

In Brazil

The company recently started selling 440 W and 530 W monofacial and bifacial modules in the country. According to BYD, both equipment are aimed at DG (distributed generation) systems, such as homes, businesses, industries and rural properties.

In the second half of 2020, the company recorded an increase of approximately 40% in the sale of photovoltaic panels in Brazil. As a consequence, the BYD opened a second shift at its factory, with 410 employees working in the country. “We are experiencing a true revolution in the Brazilian energy matrix, at a time when the country is going through an energy crisis, BYD has been bringing affordable energy generation and storage solutions to the population”, says Marcelo Taborda, BYD's commercial manager.
