GCL introduces perovskite-BC tandem technology and mobile solar system.

The manufacturer also showcased BC modules for distributed generation and TOPCon products aimed at large-scale photovoltaic projects.

According to GCL, the diversification of the Latin American market opens up space for an offering that combines photovoltaic technologies, energy storage, and mobile energy systems. The company reported that it intends to continue developing the BC and TOPCon platforms, advance in next-generation photovoltaic architectures, and expand mobile clean energy solutions in partnership with companies in the region.

GCL introduced its perovskite-BC tandem photovoltaic module and the EcoPower Mate, a mobile system that combines solar generation, storage, and energy management for remote and off-grid applications, to the Brazilian market.

The technologies were showcased during Intersolar South America 2026, held between August 25 and 27 in São Paulo (SP).

In addition to the new products, the manufacturer brought to the fair modules with back contact (BC) and TOPCon technologies, aimed, respectively, at distributed generation (DG) applications and large-scale photovoltaic projects.

According to GCL, the company's strategy is to develop both technological routes in parallel, while advancing in next-generation architectures and systems aimed at locations where permanent network infrastructure is unavailable, has low reliability, or is too expensive to deploy.

Perovskite-BC tandem technology

Among the products presented is a tandem technology that combines perovskite and back-contact cells. According to the manufacturer, the solution integrates its long-term technological development strategy and seeks to expand its portfolio for future photovoltaic applications.

In a tandem architecture, different materials are combined to take advantage of distinct ranges of the solar spectrum. In the case presented by GCL, perovskite technology is associated with the BC structure, in which the electrical contacts are positioned on the back of the cell.

Another highlight was the EcoPower Mate, a mobile solution from GCL that combines photovoltaic generation, storage, and intelligent energy management.

A mock-up displayed at the booth demonstrated the modular, mobile, and rapidly deployable configuration of the system. According to the company, the equipment was designed to provide electricity in locations where a permanent grid infrastructure is unavailable, unreliable, or expensive.

Among the applications cited by the manufacturer are remote construction sites, mining operations, and other temporary environments or those with limited power supply.

The proposal is that the system be installed at the location where there is a demand for electricity and can later be transferred as energy needs or operating conditions change.

BC modules for distributed generation

In the photovoltaic module segment, GCL presented the SiRo B and SiRo T series. The former was represented by the NR12R/66GDF model, which incorporates the GPC 3.0 BC technology developed by the company.

The product uses a back-contact architecture and, according to the manufacturer, was primarily targeted at distributed generation applications.

TOPCon for larger projects

The SiRo T series included the NT12R/54GDF and NT12R/66GDF modules, manufactured using the company's TOPCon 2.0 technology.

The product uses a back-contact architecture and, according to the manufacturer, is primarily aimed at distributed generation applications.

By keeping BC and TOPCon modules in the same portfolio, the manufacturer seeks to tailor each technological platform to the characteristics of different projects.

Portfolio for different applications

GCL also states that it is structuring its portfolio around different application scenarios found in Latin America, considering factors such as network access, geographic location, weather conditions, and the characteristics of each project.

In this positioning, the SiRo BC modules are geared towards distributed generation, while the TOPCon line caters to larger-scale projects and other conventional applications.

Perovskite-BC tandem technology represents the long-term development frontier, and EcoPower Mate expands its application to mobile and off-grid systems.

During Intersolar, the company also held talks with distributors, EPC companies, project developers, and other industry partners. Discussions covered module selection, distributed generation, energy storage, and flexible supply solutions.
