A Living opened in the municipality of Malhada (BA) its third solar power plant in the State of Bahia and the mark of 70th plants of GD (distributed generation) in operation in Brazil, reaching a total production of 626.000 MWh/year.
Built in partnership with the companies Gera and Energea, the new plant da telephone and broadband company is installed in an area of 14,2 hectares : and must produce 12.348 MWh/year.
The new plant generated 33 jobs during the construction phase and all generation will be injected into the grid of the concessionaire Neoenergia Coelba, supplying 140 of the company’s consumption points in the region.
With 114 million accesses to fixed and mobile services, Vivo has 35 thousand energy consumption points in the country.
All the energy used by the company comes from 100% renewable sources, from a combination of distributed generation production from solar (62%), hydroelectric (27%) and biogas (11%) sources, medium voltage solar self-production and energy acquisition in the Free Energy Market, in addition to I-RECs certified energy (International Renewable Energy Certificates), of wind origin.
Asset purchase
In addition to having its own generation plants spread throughout Brazil, Vivo has also been eyeing the purchase of other solar assets.
At the end of last year, for example, the company has reached an agreement with Elera Renewables to consume 20% of the production of Janaúba Solar Complex, installed in Minas Gerais.
The telecommunications giant became a partner in the venture, in a modality known as self-production of electrical energy.
Since then, the company has become the owner of four plants totaling 237 MWp, enough energy to supply more than 200 Vivo consumer units at medium voltage.
