The products, originating from a scam carried out against a company in Paraná, were being traded illegally in Maceió (AL).

According to delegate João Marcelo, from Dracco (Division for the Repression of Organized Crime), the investigation revealed that the mastermind behind the crime, a 42-year-old man, posed as a representative of an electricity concessionaire operating in the state to try to sell the diverted cargo.

The operation began after reports indicated the delivery of the material. A police team located the box truck that was transporting the cargo, as well as a vehicle belonging to the main suspect.

During the approach, the truck driver, a 36-year-old man, admitted to having been hired by the suspect, who was detained in the city of Barra de São Miguel (AL).

A third person involved, aged 29, who confessed to having helped unload materials on previous occasions, was also arrested.

During the operation, the truck with the diverted cargo, the main suspect's vehicle and other materials that will be examined as evidence were seized.

The suspects were taken to Dracco headquarters, where they were charged with the crime of qualified receiving of stolen goods.

Investigations will continue to identify other possible individuals involved in the criminal scheme. The Civil Police reinforced the importance of public reporting to combat similar practices.
