SMA residential solutions ensure flexible storage and use of solar energy

Manufacturer SMA launched the new Sunny Boy Smart Energy single-phase hybrid inverter during Intersolar South America, held in São Paulo (SP).

According to the company, SMA's Sunny Boy Smart Energy combines an on-grid and off-grid photovoltaic inverter in a single product, guaranteeing energy supply even in the event of a power grid failure, thanks to the integrated safe power supply function and the possibility of insertion of batteries.

“The launch of Sunny Boy Smart Energy in the Brazilian market is very important for SMA, as it offers a complete solution, with storage, backup and intelligent control of energy consumption”, highlighted André Gellers, country manager at SMA Brasil.

“These characteristics are very important in the current market scenario because it is becoming less and less interesting to inject energy into the electricity grid. So, it is important for you to have a residential system that manages not only the production, but also the consumption and storage of energy,” he added.

Also according to the manufacturer, charging solutions for electric vehicles and intelligent energy management can be flexibly integrated into the energy system at any time, which means greater independence in relation to rising energy costs and the supply of conventional energy.

SMA also informed that the Sunny Boy Smart Energy is compatible with High Voltage (HV) batteries from leading brands. “As a result of strict German design standards, the inverter has a 10-year warranty and will be supplied primarily in powers: 3,6 / 4,0 / 5,0 / 6,0 kW. And in the future with higher powers”, commented SMA.

According to SMA, the Sunny Boy Smart Energy has an “innovative design and reduces inverter commissioning to a cover with a single central torsion switch. This saves time for installers and allows them to complete more projects.”

“Commissioning the inverter and battery is very easy thanks to the plug-and-play functionality with pre-assembled cables and the easy-to-use instructions of the SMA 360° app”, added the company.

The manufacturer also said that installers maintain control of the system with Sunny Portal, while the owner can easily view and manage their energy flows with the SMA Energy App.

Additionally, SMA's comprehensive service ensures that installers receive expert support from the SMA Service Line throughout the project lifecycle, eliminating the need for multiple points of contact.
