According to Canadian Solar's assessment, the recent authorization of ANEEL The approval by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) for the first battery storage unit linked to a solar power plant in the SIN (National Interconnected System), the UFV Sol de Brotas 7, from Statkraft, represents a decisive regulatory advance for the consolidation of BESS in Brazil by formally recognizing the role of storage in the operation of the electrical system.

According to the company, this new milestone creates the necessary conditions for pioneering projects that integrate renewable energy generation and energy storage.

In this regard, the company's first BESS Turnkey project in Brazil has progressed with the implementation of the SolBank solution, which is now fully installed and has passed the cold commissioning stage.

According to the company, the project is already aligned with the recently established regulatory guidelines for the energy storage sector and is now in the final delivery phase to the customer.

Scope already completed by the company

  • Supply and delivery of equipment
  • Civil, electrical and mechanical installations
  • Cold commissioning and operation of SolBank auxiliary systems.

“The system is part of a pioneering project within the SIN (National Interconnected System), contributing to the consolidation of energy storage as a critical infrastructure for the flexibility, reliability, and modernization of the Brazilian electricity sector,” stated Samir Moura, General Manager of the company.

"Excellence in energy storage solutions is built on rigorous engineering, technical reliability, and operational readiness, and this project already demonstrates solid progress in that direction," concluded Samir.
