According to Strategic Study of Distributed Generation da greener, Sunova Solar is among the five most remembered photovoltaic module companies in the integrators’ view and in seventh place among those with the highest imported volume for Brazil, with 952 MWp.
With this seventh position, the company represents more than 5% of market share based on 17,8 GW of panels imported last year.
According to Greener, among the 71 brands that supplied modules to Brazil, the 10 with the highest volume were responsible for 81% of the total solar panels imported.
“The company will continue to focus mainly on the DG segment, with distributors as its main sales channel”, said Wellington Araújo, country manager at Sunova in Brazil.
“The company has grown exponentially in the last two years of operation. It was, without a doubt, one of the manufacturers that grew the most in percentage of sales last year. In this case, we reached the mark of 1 GW supplied in Brazil in 2022”, he highlighted.
In 2023, the executive stated that the manufacturer will be establishing a more solid commercial policy with the main partners that “helped us reach this milestone and we will be limiting the number of companies that we will provide direct service to”.
“We have a challenging target of 1,2 GW this year, in an extremely competitive market with new entrants appearing all the time. So, we will only achieve this if we direct the efforts and service of our commercial team to the distributors who are able to work on this audacious goal with us”, he highlighted.
For the country manager, this also comes after the recent visit of William Sheng, CEO of Sunova, to Brazil and due to meetings with the brand's main customers.
“In addition, as a strategic move, we will continue with the project of having our local stock, via bonded warehouse, to guarantee strategic availability of products to our distributors as another option within their purchasing mix”, concluded Wellington Araújo.

In total, the imported volume grew 71% in 2022 compared to 2021 and represents an investment of more than R$64 billion (€11,6 billion) for distributed generation and large solar photovoltaic plants.
“The 85% reduction in international freight in January 2023 compared to January 2022 positively impacts import costs, as does the devaluation of the dollar and the general drop in FOB module prices,” reported Sunova.
In this case, they stated that these effects led to a 20% reduction in panel costs throughout 2022. At 49%, the residential market is the largest sector in Brazil, followed by 29% of commercial installations and 15% of rural systems .
