Presenter Ana Maria Braga exclaimed, live on More you this Thursday (13), the economic and environmental benefits of solar energy. During the program, she shared a personal experience lived on her farm after installing a photovoltaic system.

Ana Maria said that she was slow to adopt the technology, but was surprised by the result: according to her, her electricity bill dropped by 75% in the first year of use. “I installed it at the beginning of last year on the farm. I was surprised by the savings. It's a personal matter, but it's worth mentioning because you have no idea what it means to reduce this expense,” she said.

Live on air, the presenter displayed a table comparing her energy bills from August, September, and October 2024 — which ranged between R$ 4.200,00 and R$ 5.200,00 — with the bills for the same months in 2025, already with solar energy, which ranged between R$ 809,00 and R$ 1.934,00.

“In a few months I saved 84%. Isn’t that something to encourage other people? I’m showing this because I spend a lot of energy on the farm. I have employees, other houses on the farm, I do irrigation. This, for me, was a fantastic thing,” revealed the presenter, who is far from being the only public figure to publicly support the technology.

In recent years, several celebrities have also started investing in photovoltaic systems as a way to reduce costs and adopt a more sustainable energy matrix. Among them are sports commentator Galvão Bueno and singer Michel Teló. See other celebrities who have adopted solar energy.

The free energy market continues to grow in Brazil, but at a more moderate pace in 2026. According to data released by CCEE, more than 4.800 consumers migrated to the free market in the first quarter of this year. Despite the significant number, the volume represents a 36,5% decrease compared to the same period in 2025. But what does this mean in practice? In the free market, consumers can choose from whom to buy energy and negotiate prices, terms, and contractual conditions. This increases competitiveness and can generate cost reductions for companies. According to CCEE, the sector is now experiencing a natural adjustment after the strong expansion recorded in 2024 and 2025, when the high-voltage segment was fully opened. Even with the slowdown, the number of new entrants remains high compared to the average observed until 2023. And you, do you believe that the free market should accelerate further in the coming years?
