A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), approved, this Tuesday (21), the Public Consultation for tariff review of RGE Sul Distribuidora de Energia SA, which will be held between March 22 and May 12

The new rates will come into effect from June 19, 2023. The consultation will also include an in-person session with a date and location to be defined.

Contributions can be sent until May 12th to the following emails:

  • cp009_2023rv@aneel.gov.br – for the Tariff Review topic;
  • cp009_2023et@aneel.gov.br – for the Tariff Structure topic;
  • cp009_2023pt@aneel.gov.br – for the topic Technical Losses;
  • cp009_2023ic@aneel.gov.br – for the topic Continuity Indicators.

According to data from the concessionaire RGE Sul, the percentage increase for residential consumers – B1 will be 9,49% in their energy bill; high voltage customers will see a reduction of -1,87%; and low voltage consumers an increase of 10,14%.

According to ANEEL, “the items that had the greatest impact on the calculations were the removal of the financial components from the previous process (June 2022), inclusion of the financial components determined in the current tariff process, in addition to costs with sector charges, energy transportation, energy acquisition and distribution”.

Tariff review x tariff adjustment

The Periodic Tariff Review (RTP) is the most complex process and takes place every four years and has the purpose of evaluating and maintaining the concessionaire's economic balance. It defines efficient distribution costs; quality and energy loss targets; and the X Factor components for the tariff cycle.

The Annual Tariff Adjustment (RTA) updates electricity tariffs and Parcel B by the excessive growth established in the contract (IGP-M or IPCA) minus the X factor (IGP-M/IPCA – X Factor). The two reviews are the two most used tariff processes in concession contracts.
