The board of ANEEL The Brazilian Electric Energy Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica) has approved the notice for the 5 New Energy Auction A-2025. The auction, scheduled for August 22, is aimed at purchasing electricity from new hydroelectric generation projects. The agency had already approved the contributions submitted in a public consultation.

The public auction session will be based on quantity, with a 20-year supply and scheduled to begin in 2030. The MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) expects to negotiate at least 30% of the project's authorized energy.

According to the notice, the CMR (Marginal Reference Cost) will be R$411,00/MWh. The same value will apply to the initial prices for projects without a grant and for projects with a grant without a contract. Projects with a grant and a contract will have reference prices of R$221,55/MWh and R$316,50/MWh (for PCH and CGH).

According to the agency, 241 project projects were registered with the Energy Research Company (EPE), totaling 2.999 MW of capacity. This number represents almost double the number from the last A-5 auction, held in 2022, which registered 90 projects and 1.516 MW of capacity. This year's public consultation accepted ten of the 48 contributions received.

ANEEL authorizes adjustments of up to 43% for distributors and licensees

The board of ANEEL also approved, this Tuesday (22), the annual tariff adjustments for five energy distributors and fifteen licensees. The companies operate in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo and Paraná.

The five utilities whose price adjustments were approved were Demei, Eletrocar, Hudropan, Mux Energia, and Nova Palma. All operate in Rio Grande do Sul and serve approximately 127 consumer units. The average impact across them will range from 1,58% to 20,94%.

Among the permit holders, the costs of paying sector charges, distribution activities, energy purchases, energy transportation, and financial components were cited as justifications for the adjustments. The average effect will range from -4,56% to 43,91%.
