Rapeel-ANEEL/Disclosure

Auren Energia has decided not to proceed with the installation of a set of photovoltaic plants in the Northeast, citing the lack of capacity in the transmission system to transport the generated energy.

According to Decree No. 1.300/2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Union, the company requested the revocation of the licenses for three solar complexes, totaling 1.332 MW of installed capacity.

The Sol do Araripe Complex (1 to 3), with 378 MW, is located in the municipalities of Simões and Curral Novo, in Piauí. The Flor do Sertão Complex (1 to 3 and 10) totals 122,5 MW and would be implemented in Caetité, Bahia.

In turn, the Helios complex concentrates most of the capacity (831,7 MW) distributed among plants 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7, planned for the municipalities of Curral Novo do Piauí (PI) and Araripina (PE).

According to ANEELThe projects fall under Article 5 of Normative Resolution No. 1.038/2022, which establishes criteria for the revocation of concessions.

Among them are the requirement for publication prior to August 15, 2022, the absence of energy trading in the regulated environment, the non-execution of the CUST (Transmission System Use Contract), and compliance with the deadline of up to 54 months for the start of commercial operation.

In this case, the plants were not behind schedule and met the regulatory conditions for revocation.

In an additional order (no. 1.281/2026), the ANEEL It also authorized the revocation of seven photovoltaic plants belonging to Apolo Renováveis, totaling 210 MW. The projects included plants 1 to 4 of the Guará Complex, in Buritizeiro, and plants 1 to 3 of the Copaíba Complex, in Monte Azul – both in Minas Gerais.

Like Auren, Apolo justified its decision based on the lack of flow capacity in the transmission system.
