BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) approved financing of R$191 million for Powertis, a company specialized in large-scale solar projects in Brazil, Italy and Spain, for the construction of a photovoltaic project in the state of São Paulo .

The resources will be allocated to the construction of the Pedranópolis Photovoltaic Complex, which will consist of three photovoltaic plants, each with 30 MW of power. The expectation is that the construction will create approximately 1,4 direct and indirect jobs in the region, and the complex will begin operating in December 2021.

“The approval of financing for the implementation of the Pedranópolis Photovoltaic Complex reflects BNDES's commitment to the development of clean and renewable energy sources”, stated Carla Primavera, superintendent of the Energy Area at BNDES.

According to Powertis, this is the first solar project to receive structured financing under the “PLD Support” program developed by BNDES, with the objective of financing long-term programs in Brazil's free market.

The amortization period for these resources is 24 years, the longest ever granted by BNDES to the photovoltaic energy sector in Brazil.

Powertis presence in Brazil

The company has an existing project portfolio of 2,3 GW in the Brazilian market. In the coming years, it intends to increase its regional presence, reaching its target of more than 6 GW.

This is the second time that BNDES has approved a line of credit to Powertis. In October, the bank approved credit for the construction of the Araxá Photovoltaic Complex (MG), which integrates the Araxá 1 and 2 photovoltaic plants located in the state of Minas Gerais and totaling 112,5 MWp.
