Brazil reached the mark of 30 GW of installed capacity in GD (distributed generation). Today, the modality is responsible for supplying more than 3,8 million UCs (consumer units) in more than 5,5 municipalities.

Driven by photovoltaic solar energy, distributed generation has grown exponentially in the last four years.

In 2023, according to data from ABGD (Brazilian Association of Distributed Generation), the DG market surpassed R$100 billion in accumulated investments, with a projected growth of over 35% in 2024, totaling more than R$140 billion.

Currently, São Paulo leads the category with more than 4 GW of installed power, followed closely by Minas Gerais. Furthermore, DG already exceeds 1 GW in eight other states: Bahia, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.

“Reaching 30 GW of distributed generation is a historic milestone that reflects Brazil’s commitment to a more sustainable and decentralized energy future,” he stated Carlos Evangelista, president of ABGD.

“This milestone not only demonstrates the country's capacity and potential to adopt renewable energy sources, but also highlights the importance of efficient public policies and the engagement of society in search of more sustainable energy solutions”, he concluded.
