O Guinness World Records attributed to Nef Stadyumu stadium, in Istanbul, Turkey, the world record of greater solar power produced by a single sports complex, with 4,2 MW.
The record was reached thanks to the installation of 10.404 solar panels on the stadium roof – which is the house of Galatasaray, the most successful football club in Turkey, founded in 1905, where great names in Brazilian football have played.
Among them, former goalkeeper Taffarel, who played for the club between 1998 and 2001, as well as midfielder Felipe Melo, currently at Fluminense, and former midfielder Elano, who in Brazil has great identification with the Santos fans.
A installation of the photovoltaic system was completed in March this year, having been carried out by the Turkish company Enerjisa Enerji, which was also responsible for managing the energy generated on site.
The installation also has 36 pieces of GoodWe 120 kW HT series inverters, that help the Galatasaray to supply almost two-thirds (63%) of its electrical needs, with the remainder being supplied by the local public grid.
In total, the energy generated in the stadium is equivalent to consumption of two thousand homes, also allowing the reduction of 3.250 tons of carbon per annum. So far, the installation has already provided the Turkish club with a savings of more than €385 thousand.
