Casa dos Ventos, a renewable energy project developer, announced two new self-generation energy agreements. In this model, the consumer acquires a stake in the power plant responsible for supplying the energy.
One of the contracts provides for the supply of an average of 3,4 MW to Orquídea Alimentos. The energy will come from the Umari Wind Farm, a 200 MW project located in Rio Grande do Sul.
Based in Caxias do Sul (RS), Orquídea Alimentos is one of the leading food industries in the country, operating in the production of flours, pasta, biscuits and baking mixes.
The operation was supported by Ludfor Energia, responsible for the company's energy management. The consultancy participated in the technical, regulatory, and contractual feasibility analyses that underpinned the partnership. Orquídea Alimentos also received legal counsel from the law firm Goulart & Lamb.
Renovation with Mosaic
Casa dos Ventos also renewed its energy supply agreement with Mosaic, a company operating in the fertilizer sector. The new contract, for an average of 25 MW, will be supplied by the Serra do Tigre Wind Farm Complex, located between Rio Grande do Norte and Paraíba.
The agreement follows the contract signed by the companies in 2022, when Mosaic acquired a stake in the Umari Wind Farm through a self-production operation that included an average of 30 MW.
“The relationship with Mosaic reinforces our ability to develop structured and competitive solutions for large energy consumers in various sectors of the economy, including agribusiness,” says Rene Abrantes, Commercial Director of Casa dos Ventos, in a press release.
According to the companies, the contract should provide Mosaic with an estimated savings of approximately R$ 330 million over the term of the contracts, considering its phosphate production units.
These operations reinforce the advancement of self-generation in Brazil as an alternative for large consumers. The model allows for a combination of cost predictability and security of supply, in addition to expanding the consumption of energy from renewable sources.
