Manchester United, one of the most traditional and iconic clubs in world football, has announced the construction of a new stadium for more than 100 fans, which promises to be a landmark in the urban regeneration of the region. Old Trafford, in Manchester, UK.

In addition to modernizing the fan experience, the new arena stands out for its commitment to sustainability, including the use of solar energy to reduce its environmental impact.

The initiative, which is part of the club's growth plan, is in partnership with the architectural firm Foster + Partners, responsible for the design of the structure.

The stadium will have a multifunctional roof designed to capture solar energy and collect rainwater, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient operation.

So far, there is no public information detailing the exact number of solar panels and other equipment that will be installed at the English football club's new home.

Sustainability at the heart of the project

Lord Norman Foster, founder of Foster + Partners, explains that Manchester United's new football stadium will be an example of innovation and sustainability.

“The stadium will be covered by a gigantic structure, which will not only protect fans from the weather conditions, but will also have a solar energy capture system and rainwater harvesting,” he said.

Manchester United's project also envisages the creation of a sustainable district around the stadium, including green spaces and public transport infrastructure.

The idea is to transform the region into a global reference center for sustainable urbanism, combining technological innovation and social development, in addition to boosting the local economy.
