A blackout left at least 77 municipalities in Paraíba without electricity on Tuesday night (7). The problem also had repercussions and interrupted the supply in cities in neighboring states, such as Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte.

Local utility companies have already restored service, but the exact causes of the incident are still under investigation. In Paraíba, the power outage was confirmed by... Energisa-PB, the concessionaire responsible for serving most of the affected municipalities.

In a statement, the company reported that the power outage was not related to its local grid, but resulted from a failure in the transmission system operated by Axia Energia.

Impacts on neighboring states

In Ceara, the Enel It reported that it activated contingency plans immediately after detecting the instability in the interstate transmission network and that the problems were mitigated and resolved that same night.

In Rio Grande do Norte, the blackout affected part of the Alto Oeste region around 18:54 PM, according to... Neoenergia CosernThe company reported a temporary outage on two transmission lines serving its substations in the area.

To date, neither of the two energy companies has released a consolidated report with the exact number of municipalities affected in their respective territories.
