The installation of the Sol do Sertão Complex, which will integrate eight plants, in the city of Oliveira dos Brejinhos (BA), located 600 km from Salvador, will generate more than 4 thousand direct and indirect jobs throughout its works. The plant will have a total capacity of 474 MWp and 415 MWac.

According to Gilberto Peixoto, Director of Implementation at Essentia Energia, the Sol do Sertão Complex should enter into operation by the second half of 2021.

“The forecast is that the eight parks will come into operation in phases, between the second and third quarter of 2021. It will be a huge incentive and development for the region”, says Peixoto.

To implement the complex, 1.075.200 LONGi bifacial panels and 122 Sungrow SG3125HV-20 inverters will be used. The complex will be connected to the SIN (National Interconnected System) at 500 kV. The civil works, which began in April this year, are being carried out by SETA Engenharia. The work integrates engineering, supply and execution services.

Technical care

A particularity of this project is the thermal sensation of the place where the complex will be installed. The region can record temperatures above 40 °C. Ricardo Alonso, Engineering Director at Sungrow, explains that the inverters supplied by the company for this project can produce the same energy at high temperatures, due to their refrigeration technology.

“Our inverters can work in severe conditions without loss of productivity, producing the same energy at high temperatures such as 45 °C”, explains the engineer. Alonso also highlights that this specificity of the equipment guarantees a return on investment without loss of project profitability.

“The equipment, when sized, is designed for the desert or completely isolated regions. Having a product that resists the most diverse environments in the long term results in gains for investors due to low maintenance costs”, he concludes.
