The city of Belo Horizonte (MG) has extended until September 3rd the opening of proposals for contracting solar energy for public buildings (Electronic Auction No. 041/2021). Interested parties may submit their proposals until 8 am on September 3rd on the website www.licitacoes-e.com.br. The opening will be held at 10am.

The bidding process is for the lease of solar energy mini-generation systems in the remote self-consumption mode to serve the city's CUs (Consumer Units). Those interested in participating in the auction must have an identification code and personal password obtained from Banco do Brasil. “With this bidding process, the City of Belo Horizonte seeks to combine financial savings, socio-environmental awareness and self-sustainability, through the generation and consumption of energy from renewable sources,” says João Antônio Fleury, Belo Horizonte's Finance Secretary.

According to Fleury, in the initial phase of the project, energy savings will be focused on public buildings in the municipal education network. The secretary also stated that more than 300 educational institutions will benefit from the use of photovoltaic energy. “In the future, the intention is to extend the project and bring savings in electricity costs to several public facilities in the City Hall,” he emphasized.

Fleury also highlights that savings of at least 30% are estimated in relation to the municipality's current spending on electricity. Requests for clarification regarding the bidding process must be submitted by the 3rd business day prior to the date of the opening of the public session by email to gclic@pbh.gov.br or delivered directly to the Central Protocol of the Municipal Finance Department, located at Rua Espírito Santo, 605, Centro, Belo Horizonte, from 8 am to 17 pm.
