A ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy) proposed to ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) that surplus electricity credits be donated to essential services in combating the coronavirus outbreak over the next six months.
The destination of the credits would be hospitals and other health centers that are working to combat the pandemic.
Considering the 2,8 GW currently installed in distributed generation, donating 1% of this total, considering Brazil's average tariff of R$0,56/kWh, would result in monthly savings in these locations of R$2,28 million. In the case of a 5% donation, the savings would rise to R$11,4 million, calculates ABSOLAR.
Measures of the ANEEL
A ANEEL also released a set of measures to mitigate negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic in the Brazilian electricity sector.
The technical note, sent to the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), aims to provide financial liquidity to the market, avoid intra-sector default, mitigate legal risks, as well as reduce the amounts of resources needed to combat the coronavirus.
