AE Solar presents series of modules with N-type TOPCon technology

Meteoro Series is another product launched by the company in 2022, which already has HJT and hybrid/thermal panels

A Solar AE, a German Tier 1 solar module manufacturer, has introduced three new products with cutting-edge technologies to the solar energy market in 2022.

These are the HJT modules with up to 22,2% efficiency and 485 W of power, the photovoltaic/hybrid/thermal panel and the latest Meteoro series, with N-type TOPCon technology.

According to the company, the Meteoro series offers the following advantages over existing PERC photovoltaic modules:

  • Lower degradation rates in the first year due to LID (Light Induced Degradation) or LeTID (Light-elevated Temperature-Induced Degradation) effects;
  • Higher efficiency potential compared to P-type solar cells;
  • Higher bifaciality factor compared to PERC solar cells.

“In summary, a lower degradation rate and a higher energy yield resulting from better efficiency and bifaciality (in the case of the bifacial module) leads to a lower LCOE in the long term compared to PERC technology”, highlighted the company.

“TOPCon modules have an efficiency very close to HJT and IBC solar cells with a positive factor of better price and greater stability in the supply chain”, they added.

In fact, according to research carried out by the International Technology Roadmap for Photovoltaics, N-type TOPCon cells will dominate up to 50% of the market share by 2032, making it the mainstream technology within a decade.
