With a generation of 3,5 GWh per year and a 40% reduction in electricity costs, the photovoltaic plant installed at the Army Headquarters in Brasília (DF) will now supply the first charging station for electric vehicles in the Force's fleet. The new charging structure was activated this Thursday (1st), according to information released by the Brazilian Army.

According to the institution, the solar power plant that supplies electricity to the Headquarters facilities is considered the largest urban photovoltaic plant in the Federal District. With the charging station now operational, some of the energy generated will also be used to recharge electric vehicles.

Installed at the Central Warehouse of the Army Headquarters, the new charging station has two 23 kW charging points each, capable of fully charging an electric vehicle in up to three hours, according to the institution.

The structure was developed in partnership between the Army General Secretariat, the Army Club, the Army Housing Foundation POUPEX (FHE POUPEX), and Carenergy, a company specializing in charging stations and electric mobility solutions.

According to the Army, the equipment was manufactured in Brazil and includes components focused on power and operational safety, with the aim of reducing fire risks and preventing power overloads.

The facility was also designed to allow for the recharging of electric vehicles with higher power than those currently used by the institution.

Photovoltaic generation is already present in other military organizations in the country; currently, 25 solar power plants belonging to the Army produce a combined total of approximately 7 GWh per year, while another 30 units are in the implementation phase, according to data released by the Army.
