A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) has begun another stage of debates on curtailment, with the aim of optimizing operational flows and analyzing the consequences of cuts or reductions in renewable energy generation.
These cuts are the result of excess inflexible (without storage capacity) or variable (without modulation capacity) supply, which exceed the transmission limits of the electrical system.
This is the third phase of Public Consultation No. 45/2019, which establishes criteria for generation cuts carried out by the ONS (National System Operator). Contributions for this stage can be sent until February 8, 2025.
According to ANEEL, the main objective is to increase efficiency in the management of generation cuts, minimizing the financial impacts for both generators and consumers, without compromising system security.
“The improvement of the rules proposed by the Public Consultation seeks to organize and prioritize the allocative effects of the cuts carried out by the National Operator in the performance of its control functions over the National Interconnected System (SIN)”, explained the ANEEL.
The two previous phases of CP45 took place between December 2019 and March 2020 and between August and November 2022, focusing on discussing conceptual aspects related to curtailment.
