Auctions for reserve capacity for battery contracts will have ceiling prices of R$ 1,76 million per MW per year for projects with national content and R$ 1,58 million per MW per year for projects without this requirement.

The values were defined by the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), and the public notices were approved by... ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) this Tuesday (27).

The bidding processes will be held online on December 2nd and 4th, 2026, respectively. The contracts will have a duration of 15 years, with the supply scheduled to begin on August 1st, 2028.

The first competition, governed by public notice no. 05/2026, will be for systems that meet the national content criteria. The second, foreseen in public notice no. 06/2026, will allow the participation of projects without this requirement.

The contract will compensate for the availability of power from the storage systems. The winning bidders will receive a fixed annual revenue, divided into 12 monthly installments, which may be reduced based on operational performance.

The costs will be shared exclusively among the power generators, in accordance with the regulations. ANEELThe systems must sustain the maximum contracted power for four hours per cycle, with up to two cycles per day and a limit of 366 cycles per year. A full recharge must occur within six hours.

In approving the bidding documents, the agency also reduced the reference investment from R$ 9,8 million to R$ 6 million per MW, based on the PDE (Ten-Year Energy Expansion Plan 2035). The update lowered the required amounts for financial guarantees and minimum net worth, with the aim of reducing barriers to entry and increasing competitiveness.

The bid guarantee will be R$60 per MW, while the performance bond will be R$600 per MW. The calculation of the guarantees will consider the availability of contracted power.

The bidding documents allow for the sharing of physical infrastructure with other projects, provided that individual contracts and measurements are maintained.

For consortia of companies within the same economic group, proof of minimum net worth will be provided only by the parent company, excluding the assets of its subsidiaries.

The proposals for both calls for proposals underwent public consultation and together received almost 2.500 contributions from industry stakeholders and other interested parties.
