A ABSOLAR (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association) announced Santiago González GilCEO of Amara Net Zeroas the new coordinator of the association in the state of Bahia. With the appointment, the entity now has representatives in 12 Brazilian states.

According to Ronaldo Koloszuk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ABSOLAR, The proposal is to reinforce “regional collaboration in development of public policies, programs and incentives in the area of solar energy, in order to promote economic and sustainable growth in the states and, at the same time, expand the photovoltaic market in a widespread way in the country”.

Currently, the state of Bahia has an installed capacity of 1,94 GW, including large solar plants and small and medium-sized self-generation systems on roofs, facades and land.

In DG (distributed generation) alone, Bahia has already surpassed the mark of 587,1 MW installed in residences, businesses, industries, rural properties and  public buildings, according to mapping of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

O territory Bahian is the Brazilian state with the greatest operational power in large plants and seventh place in the ranking of states with the highest installed power in distributed generation in the country, with 4,3% of the total.

Are more than 65,7 thousand operating systems installed and 91,6 thousand units  electricity consumers who already use technology, with reduced electricity bills, more freedom of choice and more sustainability.

“It is worth highlighting, therefore, that the state of Bahia is currently a main actor in the energy transition to contribute to decarbonization and  combating climate change in the region and, as it is a relevant center for the development of solar energy, it represents enormous generation potential  of employment and income, with coverage for all municipalities in the state,  being an attraction for private investments”, points out Gonzalez.

The new representative of ABSOLAR in Bahia is part of the list of state coordinators present in Acre, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Minas  Gerais, Mato Grosso, Pará, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, São  Paulo and Goiás. The entity's intention is to cover all states of the federation.
