New Sun Energy Group – a Brazilian company specializing in subscription-based solar energy – has opened a private process to select distributed generation (DG) plants that could be integrated into its portfolio of renewable assets.
Interested companies have until this coming Wednesday (30) to submit proposals, which will be subject to stages of technical analysis, pre-qualification, due diligence and negotiation before any contracting.
The call for proposals includes power plants using photovoltaic solar, hydroelectric, and biogas or biomass thermal energy sources, both those already connected to the electrical grid and those in the final stages of connection.
Who can participate?
The call for proposals stipulates that legal entities with a formal link to the candidate projects will be eligible to submit proposals. Check the... registration form, clicking here.
In addition to the owners of the power plants, companies that hold possession or regular right to use the area and assets, corporate or operational control, contractual authorization to negotiate the project, or a specific mandate granted by the owner of the power plant may participate.
Participation will also be accepted from representatives with formal powers to submit proposals, provide information, share documents, and conduct preliminary negotiations.
The required documentation must prove the legitimacy of the representation and compliance with the legal conditions stipulated in the selection process.
technical criteria
The process is aimed at distributed generation projects classified under the GD0 and GD1 categories. The plants must meet the regulatory and technical requirements of the electricity sector and be in operation or in the final stage of connection to the grid.
The selection process will take place in several stages, beginning with a preliminary analysis of the proposals submitted by June 30th, followed by the pre-selection of assets, due diligence, and the opening of the negotiation phase.
According to the published schedule, preliminary analyses should be completed by July 7th, while pre-selection is scheduled for July 10th. The due diligence phase will take place between July 11th and 30th, and negotiations should advance throughout August, when contract signings may also begin.
Northeast region concentrates preference
Although the call for proposals has national scope, New Sun shows a preference for projects located in the North and, especially, Northeast regions, where the company already concentrates a significant portion of its operations.
The company reports having plants distributed across 14 Brazilian states, with a significant presence in these two regions. This geographic distribution aligns with the company's strategy of expanding its operations in markets considered priorities for the growth of distributed generation.
The selected projects may be integrated into the company's portfolio through structured take-or-pay contracts, with a minimum term of 120 months, a condition presented by the company as one of the main attractions of the process.
Next stages
After the deadline for submitting proposals, New Sun will begin the technical and documentary evaluation of the registered projects.
Only projects deemed compliant with the established criteria will proceed to the due diligence phase, in which legal, regulatory, and operational analyses will be conducted in depth before the final negotiation of commercial terms.
According to the announcement, the signing of contracts will occur on a rolling basis, following the conclusion of individual negotiations with each participant.
