The partnership with eneva includes two solar plants from SPE Futura 6, which total 76 MWp of installed capacity. The agreement is valid for 15 years.

According to SiCBRAS, the acquisition will allow the company to advance its decarbonization process in the production of silicon carbide grains, reducing its scope 2 emissions in Brazil by 100% at its manufacturing unit in Simões Filho, Bahia.

“The partnership with Eneva was essential in building the future of our operations. This agreement represents a significant milestone for our company, consolidating our strategy of operating in a more responsible and efficient manner, both from an environmental and economic perspective,” highlighted Fernando Granha, main shareholder of SiCBRAS and CEO of Grupo Granha Ligas.

“Renewable energy places us in a differentiated position in the free energy market and makes it possible to serve large clients who are looking to adopt a more environmentally sustainable source,” highlighted Eneva’s Marketing, Commercialization and New Business Director, Marcelo Lopes.

The executive also stated that after the commercial completion of Futura 1, the company will look at new commercial opportunities in renewables. Among them is the expansion of the Futura Complex itself, with the addition of another 906 MWp.

With the SiCBRAS contract, Eneva declares soldout (full commercialization) of the 837 MWp of installed capacity available in the Futura 1 complex, generating revenue of approximately R$4 billion for the generator. In addition to the mining company from Bahia, the companies White Martins, Vallourec and Liasa are also partners.

The Futura Solar Complex

The Futura project was acquired by Eneva in 2022, in an initiative aligned with the company's long-term strategic vision, to diversify its portfolio and increase its share in the free energy market.

The solar complex has more than 1,4 million photovoltaic panels distributed across 1.600 hectares, which is equivalent to more than 1.500 football fields. The project's entry into commercial operation increased the total centralized solar generation capacity in the Brazilian electricity grid by 8%.
