The Chamber of Deputies concluded this Wednesday (15) the approval of the Senate's amendments to the project that limits ICMS on fuels, electricity, natural gas, public transport and communications. The text goes to presidential sanction.
According to the text approved by Congress, fuels, natural gas, electricity, communications and public transport are classified as essential and indispensable goods and services.
The new approval prohibits states from charging a fee higher than the general ICMS rate, which varies from 17% to 18%, depending on the location.
The text, authored by deputy Danilo Forte (PSB), with deputy Elmar Nascimento (Democrats) as rapporteur, had already received approval in the Chamber, but was changed during the vote in the Senate.
The new voting process in the Chamber began this Tuesday (14), with the analysis of the base text, being concluded this Wednesday after voting on the modifications.
With approval granted, the proposal goes to President Jair Bolsonaro for approval.
