O ONS (National Electric System Operator) released another edition of PMO bulletin (Monthly Operation Program), relating to week of July 20th to 26th, pointing out that estimates of ENA (Affluent Natural Energy) remains below historical averages for the current dry period in Brazil.

In summary, the ENA is the amount of water received by a hydroelectric plant that can be transformed into energy. Therefore, the greater the flow of the rivers that feed the plant and the height of the reservoir, the greater the energy generation capacity.

In general, the ENA is usually represented in MLT (Long Term Average). “The ENA projected for the end of the month is only high in the South region, with 168% of the MLT. The estimates for the other subsystems are: 58% of the MLT for the Southeast/Mid-West; 52% of the MLT for the North and 43% for the Northeast”, highlights the ONS.

The percentages of stored energy, estimated for July 31st, remain above 60% in all regions. The highest percentage is estimated for the South (87,1%), followed by the North (86,9%), the Northeast (63,3%) and the Southeast/Central-West (61,9%).

“The prospects for cargo demand are for expansion in without (National Interconnected System) and in all submarkets, a pattern that has been maintained in all July reviews”, points out the Operator’s document.

In all, the acceleration in SIN should reach 5,8% (74.423 MWMed). Among the subsystems, the biggest advances are expected for the South, with 9,2% (13.175 MWmed), and for the North, with 8,4% (7.764 MWmed).

“The Northeast can see growth of 5,9% (12.290 MWmed) and, finally, there is the Southeast/Central-West, with 4,3% (41.194 MWmed). The comparison is made between the numbers verified in the same period of 2023 and those estimated for July 2024”, highlights the ONS.
