The ONS (National System Operator) projects that the energy load in the SIN (National Interconnected System) should reach 78.255 MWmed in May, which represents a 7,1% growth compared to the same period in 2023.

These numbers are a revision of the previous forecast released by the agency last week, which indicated a increase of 5,5% (77.072 MWmed).

See what the load scenario is for each submarket:

  • Southeast/Midwest: 44.548 MWmed (+8%)
  • Northeast: 13.045 MWmed (+5,9%)
  • North: 7.560 MWmed (+5%)
  • Sul: 13.072 MWmed (+6,6%)

Inflow and storage forecast

The rains continue to punish Rio Grande do Sul, leaving thousands of people without electricity. According to the ONS, the forecast of ENA (Affluent Natural Energy) for the South region is 226% of the historical average in may.

“The ONS, in coordination with the agents, has been monitoring the impacts of the rains in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, aiming to maintain the operation of the without safe and guarantee the fulfillment of cargo demands in the region”, the agency communicated through a bulletin.

For the other submarkets, expected ENAs of 109% in the North; 65% in the Southeast/Central-West; and 43% in the Northeast.

The energy stored in the reservoirs must exceed 70% in all subsystems. The North and South regions may record the highest levels: 97,7% and 91,6%, respectively. The Northeast should register 74,3% and the Southeast/Central-West indicates reaching 73,4%.
