Authorities and big names in the sector have already confirmed their presence at Proenergia Summit 2024. The event, which is now in its sixth edition, will take place on September 11th and 12th, at the Ceará Events Center.
“Year after year, Proenergia has consolidated itself as one of the most important events in the sector, at national and international level. This makes us very proud, as we are aware of the relevant contribution we are making not only to the growth and dynamism of the regional and national economy, but also to the process of global decarbonization, in times of facing the climate crisis”, he highlighted. Luis Carlos Queiroz, president of Sindienergia-CE, one of the event organizers.
The biggest players in the sector will discuss the contemporary opportunities and challenges for the energy transition, including axes such as generation, transmission, storage and commercialization of energy, climate change, regulation, public policies, market, investments, H2V (green hydrogen), offshore and solar energy, among other related topics, under the macro theme “The World of Energy happens here!".
Furthermore, to expand discussions, this edition will host a second stage, the Eletrobras Space, addressing other relevant topics in the sector, such as Nuclear Energy, Energy Efficiency in Industry, Neo-industrialization and the Energy Transition and the Hydrogen Economy.
Just like last year, Proenergia Summit 2024 will feature startups presenting solutions to the audience, focused mainly on the energy sector. In addition, there will be a hackathon taking place over the two days, with prizes awarded at the end for three solutions chosen by the judges.
Finally, another new feature of this edition is a stand from the Museum of Industry, where visitors will be able to learn about the main milestones in the history of energy in Ceará, with a large timeline, 17 meters long and with a trajectory, as well as a monitor touch, through which visitors will be able to take a “tour” of the exhibition installed at the Museum of Industry, in the Center of Fortaleza, also having two virtual reality glasses so that people can make a more immersive visit to the exhibition facilities.
The expectation is to receive around 4 thousand people during the days of the initiative, who will have access to technical lectures, panels and debates, including business rounds, commercial exhibitions, spaces for startups and podcasts, as well as the presentation of the Jurandir Picanço Trophy, in a qualified business and networking environment.
Jurandir Picanço Trophy
Traditionally, Proenergia has also hosted the Jurandir Picanço Trophy, which pays tribute to a prominent figure in the energy sector, at its opening ceremony, witnessed by leading authorities. In 2024, Senator Camilo Santana, Brazil's current Minister of Education, was chosen to be the honoree.
According to Sindienergia, the honor is due, above all, to his strategic vision and pioneering spirit in fostering the new frontier of socioeconomic development for Ceará and the Northeast and the production of H2V, when he was at the head of the Government of Ceará.
Furthermore, it was during his administration, on February 19, 2021, that, through a memorandum of understanding involving the State Government, FIEC, UFC and the Pecém Complex - CIPP, the Green Hydrogen Hub was created, subsequently providing the prospecting and attraction of international investors and enabling around US$ 30 billion to be invested in H2V production plants, generating up to 30 thousand direct jobs and 12 thousand indirect jobs in the coming years.
Previous recipients of the Jurandir Picanço Trophy were the then Secretary of Economic Development of Ceará, Maia Júnior (in 2021); Lauro Fiúza, founder and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Servtec Group (in 2022), and Ricardo Cavalcante, president of FIEC and the Nordeste Forte Association (in 2023).

To close the event's program, participants will be able to attend a talk by businessman, navigator and writer Amyr Klink, with vast experience in subjects such as renewable energy, sustainability, entrepreneurship, strategy and overcoming.
A pioneer in the field, Klink has been a speaker for 38 years, with over 3.200 lectures given in 16 countries, based mainly on his experience as Commander in 22 expeditions to Antarctica on boats designed and built in Brazil. He is currently a partner in two companies focused on planning, researching and developing special projects, and is also the author of six best sellers, with over 1 million copies sold.
Considered one of the largest events in the country's energy sector, held by Sindienergia-CE (Union of Energy and Services Industries of the Electric Sector of the State of Ceará), in partnership with FIEC (Federation of Industries of the State of Ceará) and Sebrae, and with the support of the State Government, Proenergia should also have the participation of several other representatives of the largest companies, entities and bodies linked to the energy sector.
Partners

The event is also in partnership with the Government of Ceará, through the SDE (Secretariat of Economic Development). “We will all be discussing and building connections for the generation of clean and renewable energy, such as green hydrogen, and the many opportunities for companies that already operate in Ceará and for those that are yet to come,” said Salmito Filho, head of the department.
On August 2, with the presence of President Lula and Alexandre Silveira, Minister of Mines and Energy, Ceará hosted the sanctioning of the Green Hydrogen Legal Framework. The state has been playing an important role in the process of decarbonization and global energy transition, having, to date, 37 memoranda of understanding and six pre-contracts signed for the production of green hydrogen at the Port of Pecém.
According to the CNI (National Confederation of Industry), Ceará holds more than half of the billion-dollar investments in green hydrogen in Brazil, covering a 58,6% share, with projects totaling R$110,6 billion.
