The Board of Directors of Eletrobras announced, this Wednesday (25), the appointment of the current Secretary of Electric Energy of the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), Rodrigo Limp, as the new president of the state-owned company.
Limp, who was director of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) between May 2018 and March 2020, will take over the position of Wilson Ferreira Júnior, currently CEO of BR Distribuidora. The nomination was made by the controlling shareholder, and was not selected by the advisory firm Korn&Ferry, mentioned in the market announcement dated January 25, 2021.
After due approval by the Civil House, the executive must be elected as a board member, at an ordinary general meeting, and, subsequently, he must be elected, by the Board of Directors, as the new president of the company.
“I personally liked it. Rodrigo Limp is very experienced, he is a specialist in regulation by ANEEL and was a legislative consultant in the Chamber of Deputies, for example”, said Pedro Dante, partner in the energy and infrastructure area at Lefosse Advogados.
“In addition, he had been the MME’s energy secretary for more than a year. Therefore, just the fact that the presidency is in charge of a person who is from the sector, brings more security to Eletrobras”, highlighted Dante.
