The José Martins Pereira Stadium in São José dos Campos recently adopted a solar energy system, which has more than 220 solar panels installed on the roof above the seating area. The system has an installed power of 128,76 kWp.
Joining major stadiums across Brazil that already have solar power, such as Maracanã, Mineirão, Mané Garrincha, Arena Pernambuco, and Arena Pituaçu, in just two months of operation, the São José Esporte Clube SAF stadium has seen a 65% reduction in monthly electricity costs.
Luiz Carlos Bertti, engineer and responsible for managing the stadium, highlighted the importance of this measure.
“Since we took over management of Martins Pereira, we have been seeking sustainable and rational measures to reduce inputs such as energy and water. Today we can say that the installation of these plaques represents a milestone for this heritage of the city,” he said.
The stadium also implemented measures to reduce water consumption. The maintenance team identified leaks and made improvements to the hydraulic systems, resulting in a 50% saving on the water bill.
