Hot spots and microcracks are among the main factors that compromise the performance and lifespan of photovoltaic plants. Although often associated with the operational phase, these problems can originate during installation, impacting system efficiency and costs throughout the entire lifecycle of the projects. According to ARaymond's assessment, choices made during the assembly of the structures directly influence both the initial investment and future operational costs. Traditional fastening methods, based on the use of clamps and screws, can contribute to the emergence of these defects when not executed with the necessary technical precision. This model, the company points out, demands longer installation time, involves a high volume of components, and requires specialized labor. "Less installation time, less maintenance needs, and greater durability mean more efficiency and profitability for the entire lifecycle of the plant," the company stated. In addition to increasing maintenance costs and putting pressure on the OPEX (Operational Expenditure) of the plants, the need for rigorous torque control throughout operation also increases the risk of structural damage to the modules even during the installation phase. Regarding the influence of the fixing on the upper part of the modules, Laís Andrade, Engineer at CS Consultoria, explains that some types of clamps, especially the taller ones or those installed on the front, can cause shading at certain times of the day. According to her, the variation in the sun's position favors the formation of hot spots when the light hits at lower angles.
