Prices of bifacial photovoltaic modules N-Type TOPCon and HJT (heterojunction) exported by China suffered reductions of 4,8% and 4,2%, respectively, between the first and second week of November.
The data comes from the weekly bulletin of InfoLink Consulting, which monitors price fluctuations of the main inputs in the photovoltaic production chain.
According to the survey, the average price of N-Type TOPCon bifacial photovoltaic modules fell from US$0,105/W to US$0,100/W in the period.
In 2024, the equipment has already registered a drop of 23,07% (in January, the average value of the equipment was US$ 0,130/W).
The average price of HJT photovoltaic modules went from US$ 0,120/W to US$ 0,115/W between the first and second week of November.
Since the beginning of the year, when they cost US$ 0,160/W, this type of solar panel has accumulated a reduction of almost 30% compared to the current value.
Explanation for the drop in the price of photovoltaic modules
In an interview with Canal Solar, Felipe Santos, Regional Director Latam at DAH Solar, explains that the reduction in prices of solar panels seen in the international market is directly related to the dynamics of supply and demand.
“There was no abnormality. It is a question of adjustment between supply and demand. We still have a supply greater than demand, but the market should correct this soon given the damaging price level at which the industry has been operating,” he said.
Drop also in photovoltaic cells
In addition to the modules, the InfoLink Consulting bulletin pointed to a 1,8% reduction in the price of Type N photovoltaic cells, whose average value is now US$ 0,27/W.
According to InfoLink, the drop in cell prices is linked to lower-than-expected demand from manufacturers. “With demand still weak, short-term prices will remain low,” the report noted.
