O price of the photovoltaic modules TOPCon monofacials (both 182 mm and 210 mm) suffered a reduction of 6,7% in the first week of August in comparison with the last week of July, data from the new weekly newsletter from InfoLink Consulting.
According to the study by the global company – which measures the value behavior of the main inputs in the photovoltaic production chain – the average technology value fell from US$0,30/W to US$0,28/W in the period.
In the case of other photovoltaic modules, such as PERC (monofacials and bifacials) and other inputs in the sector chain, such as cells and wafers, the values remained unchanged or without significant fluctuations over the last week.
Accumulated for the year
Since the beginning of the year, the price of monofacial photovoltaic modules TOPCon registered a rreduction of 12,5%. On the first of January, the average cost was US$0,32/W in the international market.
The same goes for the Mono PERC solar panels, who accounted 13% drop in the period: US$ 0,115/W to $0,10/W – interestingly, the same price as bifacial PERC countries today.
In the evaluation of Eduardo Gama, Country Manager of Astronergy Brazil, the recent reducing of global production prices for photovoltaic modules (mainly TOPCon) help make solar energy even more accessible in Brazil.
“This drop could result in more competitive prices, stimulating the adoption of advanced technologies in the Brazilian market and boosting the growth of the renewable energy sector in the country,” said the executive.
Other inputs
The Infolink Consulting study also highlights the behavior of other inputs in the global photovoltaic chain. Regarding the polysilicon price, the bulletin points out that there was no price change: US$ 21,50/kg.
The wafers and photovoltaic cells are the inputs with the largest significant reductions, so far, in 2024.
Os wafers of the 182mm Type-P, for example, suffered a reduction in values of around 37,5%.
The value of the piece plummeted from US$0,248 to US$0,155 this year. In the case of 210 mm, the reduction was even greater: 43,1%, from US$ 0,373 to US$ 0,212.
In relation to Photo-voltaic cells, the most impactful reduction involved the 182mm Type P, which had its cost reduced by 25%. In other cases (210mm Type P and Type-N cells) the value is practically the same as at the beginning of the year.
